The paper mill project & who's building it
A quick guide to the $1 billion modernization of the Arkansas Kraft paper mill in Morrilton: what's being built, the companies involved, and where to look for work.
What's being built
Green Bay Packaging calls it Project PowerPack, a multi-year modernization of its Arkansas Kraft Division mill at 338 Hwy 113 South in Morrilton, which has operated here since 1965.
New recovery boiler
Replaces the mill's recovery boiler, along with a new evaporation plant.
Biomass power boiler
A new boiler that burns wood waste to make steam for the mill.
Turbine generator
A steam-driven generator so the mill can produce up to all of its own electricity.
The company also plans 35 new permanent jobs on top of its 620+ current employees, and has acquired about 300 acres for possible future growth.
